Denovo’s breakthrough energy movement solution saved a 200,000 sf cold storage facility experiencing significant frost heave due to 20 feet of frozen ground. To thaw the ground and level the floors, horizontal piping was installed underneath the facility while it remained operational, a must for our client financially. The system works by using waste heat from the facility’s ammonia system to warm a glycol/water mix running through the piping. Today, the underground system serves as the facility’s permanent defrost system and provides heating and cooling to administrative areas.
